High Court rejects the Government’s Solar Power tariff changes

22nd December 2011

The Government was challenged by Friends of the Earth and two solar businesses Solarcentury and HomeSun

The Government had planned to reduce payments to households and communities generating green electricity through solar panels from 43p per kilowatt-hour to 21p per kWh for installations completed after December 12 this year. Those reductions were expected to come into force next April though even this depended on a consultation. The Government says it plans to appeal but some are calling for a complete rethink.
