Reports from Chicago Breaking Business suggest it may well have paid $40m for Twitter platform TweetDeck.
Twitter's PR team have tweeted ‘no comment' to the rumours. But it would make sense as TweetDeck has been proving to be one of the most popular routes for surveying the micro-blogging site, particularly on PCs and laptops, but also most recently on mobile phones including the iPhone.
The deal is reported to be for a mixture of cash and stock and was broken on CNN earlier today.
Another firm Ubermedia had been in talks with TweetDeck earlier in the year, but that firm has had its own run-ins with Twitter. Earlier this year, Twitter closed Ubermedia's own Twitter interfaces for violating its user policy.
