It's a tough time to be a corporate manager.
Gone are the giddy days when you were free to pay yourself and your pals on the board salaries equivalent to the GDP of a small country.
No longer can you run fast and loose with the company expense account.
Hell, you can't even organise a good, old-fashioned takeover bid without those pesky shareholders getting in the way.
